History
Al Khitabeya was started by Hazrat Syed Pir Khitab Shah Alayhi Rahma.
Hazrat Syed Pir Khitab Shah
Hazrat Syed Pir Khitab Shah was born in Manserah, Pakistan in 1906. He was the mureed of his maternal uncle Hazrat Shah Waleeulah Masheedi Alayhi Rahma from whom he received education and inspiration. He began working on board a ship where he spent many years in worship, zikr, meditation and contemplation.
People from all over the world benefited from his spiritual presence as the ship docked at different harbours. South Africa was particularly blessed as he visited many times from 1950 until the late 1990’s, teaching people, initiating mureeds and helping the sick and the hopeless. South Africans witnessed many miracles of this great personality and fondly referred to him as Bawajee.
In Pakistan, he worked to uplift the impoverished community of Landi where he set up an orphanage caring for many children, clothing them, feeding them, giving them love and affection and most of all ensuring that they received education. Over the years, Bawajee established a madressa and masjid in Landhi to cater for the needs of the community and through his efforts, the Al Khitabeya Institute grew and the muslim community in Landhi began to flourish. His mazaar is at the Al Khitabeya Complex in Landhi.
